Join us at the Lancaster County Fire Academy in Manheim, PA for a day of hands-on skills evolutions that will challenge your skills and give you tips you can use at your next fire!

Go beyond the books!  Work with experienced instructors from some of the busiest & most respected fire departments in the country.  This 8-hour day of practical evolutions will help build your skills and provide you with new techniques to improve your performance at your next fire. This class will include skill stations focusing on engine, truck, and RIT company operations.  Our objective-based training will have you accomplashing specifics skills or tasks that will be invaluable on the fireground:
  • Engine Company
    • “Pushing In” with the 2 1/2
      Learn techniques for effective use of the 2.5” as an interior attack line, as well as how to be an “all-star” backup FF.  “Tactical nozzle” stream application will also be discussed.
    • Extended-Length Attack Lines
      This station will have you stretching attack lines up to 650’ in less than 90 seconds.  You’ll also earn tips for rapidly extending lines using a variety of methods, all with minimal manpower.
  • Truck Company
    • Saving Lives with Vent, Enter, Search
      Knowing how & when to use VES will save civilian lives with minimal resources.  This station will also cover “street-smart” ground ladders – a must for every firefighter.
    • Aggressive Primary Searches
      Time is of the essence when making civilian rescues.  Learn techniques to quickly and effectively search under cluttered conditions and tips on removing the victim.
  • Rapid Intervention
    • Overcoming SCBA Emergencies
      Low air?  Out of air?  Missing facepiece? SCBA malfunction?  This station will make sure you know what to do when you or your buddy encounter a SCBA emergency.
    • Search-Ropes & Locating the Downed FF
      Locating the downed FF is the most important part of the RIT operation.  Learn team-oriented techniques to perform a rapid, methodical search.  Use of search-rope systems will also be included.

    How to Register:

    To insure individual attention and maximum participation, class size is limited to thirty (30) studentsClasses fill quickly – please register early!

    Registration fee: $130.00, includes lunch.  Students will need full PPE, SCBA & spare SCBA bottle.

**Please note: Due to fixed costs asscoiated with the number of attendees, no refunds will be available after May 1, 2009.  Unfortunatley we will not be able to issue credit or refund for “no-shows”.
