Command & Company Officer Development
The Officer Development Course will focus on the fundamental skills that are necessary to be an effective company/command-level officer. An effective fire officer has the ability and responsibility to lead both on and off the fireground. The focus of this 16-hour course will focus on operational considerations, primarily at structural fires. Specific emphasis will be placed on effectively “breaking-down” incidents into manageable segments. Additionally, the prospective officer will be provided the opportunity to demonstrate the skills learned through realistic scenarios while receiving immediate feedback from experienced instructors.

Class will conclude with a series of simulated operational exercises. These will challenge the students existing skills & new knowledge by placing them in a leadership role during a simulated incident. They will be challenged to manage the incident appropriately, including all elements (documentation, accountability, tactics, etc…). These scenarios are enhanced by advanced computer simulation, fire audio, and role-playing.
